Alberta Health Link offers 24 hour medical advice for non-emergency situations. Dial 811 for assistance. The nice nurse had nothing to offer me other than assurances that there are no red flags on my symptoms… Just a sleepless night. Any advice for a twitching muscle?

    1. I have often suggested magnesium to my Nia students for muscle cramps, but this was not muscle cramps… I have never had muscles pulse and try to jump out of my skin like that before! The low sodium answer seems to fit… it has stopped jumping since I ate some salt and stopped drinking water a couple hours ago…

    1. You win for the closest answer Sharon Falconer! Since I have low blood pressure anyway, I am not only decreasing my water intake, but increasing my intake of sea salt a bit for now.

      1. If you increase your water you really need to increase your salt intake Tina. I’ve had this problem for months now and I have started the Cal/Mag and increased my salt intake. It has worked well. When I back off it starts again.

  1. Ok, my sister-in-law to the rescue!! She says my sodium levels are probably out of whack, causing the muscle twitches. You see, she knows my history (unlike the nice nurse at Health Link) – I was recently treated for a bladder infection, and was therefore increasing my water consumption considerably…. and lowering my sodium levels. I just have to quit drinking so much water! phew. THanks Sherry Thrussell-Maligaspe
